Evo-Stik First Division North 29 April 2011 A yawn draw by Ken Milgate Witton Albion 1 Kinsey pen82 Durham City 1 Cutts 87 Just when it looked as if only a mistake would cost a goal, two came along within five minutes in the final stages, a draw being a fair result in the sunshine as neither side deserved either victory or defeat. For City it was only the second draw on their travels. Ross Wilkinson\'s lofted clearance on 2minutes was contested by Amar Purewal and the Witton keeper, but the ball went harmlessly past both for a goal kick. In contrast, City\'s keeper kept out a Matt Woolley thirty yarder at full stretch with his fingertips and was then extended to parry Josh Hancock\'s shot from the edge of the box. Lewis Graham was by far the busier keeper, punching clear, cutting out crosses and covering his whole area. City\'s first sortie on goal on 20minutes saw David Dowson in a good shooting position, but he chose to pass square and the chance was lost. Just before the half hour Jack Pounder\'s thirty five yarder lacked power and direction, City\'s number eleven being shortly afterwards stretchered off with a leg injury. City\'s goal attempts were not troubling Matt Cooper, Amar Purewal slicing wide and Elliot Cutts swinging a hopeful boot at a loose clearance. In the third added-on minute of the first half Lewis Graham pulled off a stunning tip over save to keep out a fierce drive from Nathan Southern. Five minutes into the second period Wilkinson almost caught Cooper off his guard with a lob from the halfway line, while Matt Wood and Jamie Harrison sent long-range efforts well wide of City\'s goal as the game seemed destined to peter out into a goalless draw. With eight minutes left Tommy English fouled sub Paul Ennis in the corner of the box and Andy Kinsey scored with a low drive into the bottom right corner, the unlucky Lewis Graham going the right way in vain. City sub Craig Harbord sliced a left-footer wide from outside the box after a corner before City deservedly got some reward for not throwing in the towel when Cutts stabbed home from close range after a goalmouth scramble on the six-yard line. The heroics of Lewis Graham kept City in the match in the first half, but Gary Brown deserves commendation for a gutsy display, playing on despite a series of knocks. The curtain now falls on City\'s season, but my Cup and League Reviews will appear later.
