Press Release - Durham City
The football club would like to issue a progress statement on several matters with regard to its future plans.

Club owner and Chairman Olivier Bernard has transferred the club ownership to his partner Diane Wilson in order to ensure there is no perceived conflict of interest with regard to any of his business activities and also his role as a football agent.

Oliver Bernard remains fully committed to the club and will continue in his role as Chairman, and he has also strengthened the Board of volunteers with some additional members in Tony Stubbs, Paul Trotter and Darren Knowd who will all bring strong commercial and business acumen to assist the club going forward.

The club has also recently submitted a pre-planning application to the Council for a new football ground and facilities in Durham and have just been advised that the proposals could be supported in principle which is a really positive step forward.

The Council’s constructive advice and recommendations will now be studied and followed and although it is still too early to be exactly precise about detailed timing, if a full planning application was approved in late 2018 it might be possible to play matches in season 2019/20 in the new facilities.

For season 2018/2019 the club has signed a new ground sharing agreement and will play all home matches at Brandon United FC ground and the club is pleased to be able to play matches closer to Durham which is in line with the requests of its supporters.

Finally the club would like to thank Richard Treweman and everyone at Willington AFC for allowing the football club to play at their ground this season, they have been perfect hosts in every aspect, and the efforts of the Cooper brothers to maintain the pitch in such good condition despite the challenging weather should be commended.

Exciting times for Durham City AFC – If you would like to get involved either as a sponsor or volunteer please get in touch via Gary Hutchinson at dcafc@sky.com
