A crowd of 329 saw Darlington take the lead from a headed goal by none other than David Dowson. He pounced on a reflex save by Lewis Graham after the visitors had been contained by a resolute Durham side for much of the first half.
Darlington's second goal came from Shaun Reay midway into the second half with Adam Nichols scoring a third soon after.
The consolation came in the form of a penalty on 85 minutes cleanly put away by Joshua Hugill.
Durham clearly missed Dan Madden and Stephen Thompsson (both on holiday) so the result was actually quite encouraging.
