It would be useful and most appreciated if supporters, officials, ex playing staff etc. who had any memorabilia they wished to share with the Club would kindly forward this on so that an historical archive can be maintained.
All scans/photographs of original items would be most welcome including medals, photographs, newspaper articles, programmes and any other documentation/items of interest so that they can be proudly displayed on the website.
If anyone has anything they would wish to share with the Club and are unable, or do not have the facility to scan such items then please contact me via the website and this can be arranged.
To 'kick off', I have been going through a few surviving matchday programmes obtained in the late 60's/early 70's when I first watched Durham City AFC play, and if there is enough interest I intend to transcribe some of the material i.e. match reports, team sheets etc.
I also have an original Souvenir Programme from the official opening of Ferens Park way back in 1951 (obtained by a relative of mine and keen City supporter) and have attached a scanned image for information. It was produced on glossy paper and contains some photographs of how Ferens Park came to be (before and after) and of the President, Alderman Ferens and the Chairman, Raymond Appleby as well as some interesting advertisements. It is interesting to note that it actually states 'music relayed by amplifier'. Some might say we are still using the same one! (joking of course).
